As it says in the synopsis, Date With A Vampire is about a quiet woman named Melody that has not met her perfect man. She has dreams of such a man but once her dates realize her quiet nature, they usually get bored. Until, that is, she wins the lottery. Then she has countless men pursuing her but not for her but for her money. She then gets the offer to star on a reality dating program much like The Bachelorette program that airs here. Just for the record, I like that show!
Enter Guystof, Guy for short. Guy is a vampire but you could think of him as a "good" vampire. He sees being what he is as a curse. Guy is a Count in his home country but his castle is crumbling around him. His Father has pledged him the deed to the castle but he must marry a rich woman to help to restore the castle to its previous splendor. As a last resort, he becomes a bachelor trying to win the heart of Melody. Except Guy has an evil brother, Theo, who also wants control of the castle. So he will do all he can to thwart the romance between Guy and Melody.
Melody entered the contest not to necessarily become engaged but to "fake" an engagement so men would stop hounding her. Guy entered the contest to take a wife that had money. What neither of them anticipated was finding love. But can Melody accept what Guy is and can they outsmart evil Theo's efforts to steal Melody away from Guy?
Ok, my opinions on this book at first were that I thought it sounded like such a cute premise. I love a good vampire romance. And it was sort of sweet, but I didn't really enjoy it as much as I had hoped. First, Melody's reactions were strange, especially when she first found out what Guy was. And just the book as a whole, I just didn't really connect with the characters. I was never really drawn in like I wanted to be. There are some sexy scenes that take this book out of the YA category but as a whole, the story felt kind of juvenile. Thus, the three star rating. It does pretty much wrap things up so it can be read as a stand alone.
So, my opinion is that this was just OK for me. I do want to thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book for a fair review.

Vampires and Romance, two of my triggers so I was looking forward to reading this novel. Its a stand alone too - though I love books that run in series, I'm getting really tired of reading duos or trilogies that end on cliffhangers, and take six months or more before next part is out.
Anyway, began this and....ran into problems. Melody as a lottery winner being overwhelmed by all the publicity and fortune hunters I could understand. Going on TV to get out of it - I sort of saw the logic, but really didn't agree with it. Guy too - he's hundreds of years old, and time means nothing to vampires so why on earth would his father give him just sixty days to find a wife...ah well, maybe if I put my reservations aside I can get into the book.
Sadly that didn't prove so. The reality show - I was expecting something along the lines of Jill Myles Wicked Games, a book I loved. That one really developed the reality show format and made it work, here the actual reality show part seemed to get glossed over almost, and we saw little of the "dates" or the other contestants. I liked Guy but he seemed a doormat to his father, and after all that while surely his father would see that Guy was the better heir, rather than his cruel brother. I felt the magic part was a bit too slick and convenient to get the players in the position they needed to be, a sort of short cut rather than an essential part of the plot. Still, as ever this is just my view and lots of people want a simplified, easy to follow plot.
This really just felt to me that it was a very simple romance, with a bit of magic and paranormal thrown in - it just didn't work for me. I ended up skimming the book to finish as I just wasn't invested enough in the characters, it just seemed a bit too unreal, and almost juvenile in parts considering Guy and his brother were hundreds of years old. Theo's harem too - I didn't see the point of including them, they didn't seem to add to the story, and just took away time that could have been used for more of the reality show filming. Priced at £2.54 for 224 pages its a reasonable cost.
Stars two and a half, overall not one for me but may be just what you want if you like lighter romances.

When I was offered the chance to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review, I thought why not, after reading the synopsis it sounded like this book would be a fun read, and it was.How clever to use a dating show as the platform for the two main characters to meet. The Tahiti back drop was beautifully depicted. It was easy to picture the scenes the author described;
Melody is a shy, very pretty girl who finds herself in a impossible situation when she wins the lottery and becomes sought after by gold digging bachelor's. All she wants is her old life back and to be left alone to persue her dream of becoming a librarian. But fate has other plans. Guy is a Moldavian Count who has been given an ultimatum, find a bride and get married in the time allotted or lose his inheritance to his scheeming younger brother. Though Guy is drop dead gorgeous he is not without a flaw, a big one. He's a vampire! Guy on the Tahiti as one of the bachelor's is derailing Melody's plans to pick a bachelor and have a long engagement so she can blend back into the woodwork.
This book is pure fantasy but a lot of fun to read. I wanted to give it 5 stars but there were a few passages that could have used editing, especially towards the end of the book. The ending seemed a little rushed.Both these issues could easily be corrected. With that said, I still found this book to be an enjoyable read.
